This past Sunday during the Sunday School hour Bob Foy presented an overview of the Lay Led renewal process. To find out more click on "Church Renewal Journey" and read about the process. You can view the video Bob showed during his presentation.
Very simply, this is a lay led process designed to engage and involve members to discover and understand God has called each of us to ministry. Bob made a piercing statement which is very true ...... each and every person who has accepted Jesus as Lord and Savior has been called to ministry. In fact God has specifically equipped and gifted us for this ministry. Ultimately the success of Jefferson Street Baptist Church will not be measured in its number of members, how large its Sunday School grows to or how big its budget becomes. These things will fall into place when you and I begin to use our gifts to minister on a daily basis.
Our Pastor has challenged us to pray about what God will have us do - shall we begin the journey or shall the status quo be maintained? Pray and God will answer. On the upper right side of the blog you will find a simple confidential survey. I ask you to complete it and we will provide this feedback to the church leadership. The survey is not limited to our class. Send a church member the blog address and encourage them to participate. It is realy quite simple.

Ministry
To be a class of Hope we must be a people of ministry. I am excited about the ministry that is occurring by our class members. Please keep up the good work.
1. Mission Trip to Mississippi - five of our class members (Yvonne & Glynn Mullis, Danny & JennyDuggar and Edsel Padget) traveled to Mississippi to help build a house. Others volunteered but could not go due to uncontrollable conflicts.
2. FCA Sports Camp -Several members helped prepare and distribute meals for the local Sports Camp - very successful (over 200 children participated)
3. Moore Street Project - David Taylor drove the bus to assist Russ Faulk with the Moore Street project. Others have helped on Wednesday evening ministry at Moore Street. Continue to pray for Russ and his team.
4. Need Met - Jackie Gillespie informed the class of a person in need of a washing machine. David Taylor responded with his connections and this need has been met.
Update - Glen Gillespie & Johnny Payne chipped in and delivered the washing machine. This is ministry in action - thanks Jackie, David, Glen & Johnny!!!
There will be other opportunities in the upcoming days. Please choose one and get involved.
Until next time, Danny

Prayer Requested - Taylor Family
First I must apologize! It's been busy lately and I have failed to post as I should. Please accept this apology. Now to the matter at hand. Please keep David & Jennifer Taylor and family in your prayers. Jennifer's mother (Nell Heath) passed last evening. David said she passed peacefully with her family at her side. Let us rally and support Jennifer during this loss. Tentatively the visitation will be at Townsend Brothers Funeral home on Saturday evening, services at Popular Springs North on Sunday and internment at Dublin Memorial Gardens.

The Price of Freedom
Let every nation know, whether it wishes us well or ill, that we shall pay any price, bear any burden, meet any hardship, support any friend, oppose any foe to assure the survival and the success of liberty. -John F. KennedyAnd I'm proud to be an American, where at least I know I'm free, and I won't forget the men who died, who gave that right to me and I'll proudly stand next to him to defend her still today, 'cuz there ain't no doubt I love this land, god bless the USA. -Lee Greenwood

Serving God and Country
This past weekend Cliff Payne opened an event in Augusta, Georgia featuring Lee Greenwood. Cliff, the son of Johnny and Sue Ann Payne, is in the Army and stationed at Ft. Gordon in Augusta. Cliff grew up in JSBC and has developed into a mature, well rounded young man. He has not forgotten his christian upbringing and stands tall in his walk with the Lord and service to his country.
Lee Greenwood poses with Cliff and Amy. The better part of this picture is in the middle and not on either end. She is Amy, cliff's fiance. Cliff met Amy at Warren Baptist Church and they will be married in December of this year. I wonder if Cliff ever thought his service to the Army would allow him to sing for a superstar and find his soul mate. We are proud of you Cliff!!!!!
Until next time.....
